Acharya Shunya is a globally-recognized Vedic scholar, best-selling author and spiritual teacher of Advaita Vedanta (non-dual wisdom). She has transformed the lives of thousands through her extensive knowledge of ancient Vedic Sanskrit texts. Moreover, she has used this wisdom to deeply examine her relationship with herself and the world. In doing so, she was able to overcome her own challenges, remove the veils of ignorance and awaken to a deeper truth, and abiding state of peace and contentment.

Acharya Shunya is the first female lineage-holder from an ancient line of Vedic spiritual teachers from northern India. She was groomed in the study of Vedic scriptures for 14 years, by her loving grandfather and guru, Baba Ayodhya Nath, (alongside regular schooling) and chosen amongst multiple male candidates as the first female spiritual leader of the lineage at the age of 24.

As a representative of this ancient Vedic lineage, she conveys the deepest scriptural wisdom in a manner relevant to modern western sensibilities while losing none of the original beauty, authenticity, purity, and power. Acharya Shunya’s non-dual universal teachings are directed toward people of all faiths seeking to realize their true potential. Her profound spiritual teachings change lives, enable abiding happiness, peace, and realization of the ultimate truth.  Her students describe her as a catalyst for awakening, a beacon of light that illuminates the path on the journey from powerlessness to powerful. Students consistently remark at her gift of delivering profound wisdom eloquently, within the context of easy to remember, practical application.

She is also well-versed in the Vedic science of Ayurveda and spiritual philosophy of Yoga, and is the author of the best-selling book, Ayurveda Lifestyle Wisdom (acclaimed as a top 10 book for Alternative Medicine, by Health Line, as well applauded by Thrive Global, Huffington Post & MindBodyGreen). The book has been translated into 7 languages and is helping health-seekers across the globe. In 2015, she was featured in Spirituality & Health magazine as one of the Top 100 Trailblazers in Yoga and Ayurveda. In 2017, the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) awarded the Haridas and Bina Chaudhuri Distinguished Service Award, (past recipients include Deepak Chopra and Kavita Ramdas), to Acharya Shunya for her extraordinary achievement as a Vedic scholar and practitioner. She also served as President for 2 terms for CAAM (California Association for Ayurvedic Medicine).

She is a sought-after speaker, delivering keynote addresses to audiences that include the National Ayurveda Medical Association, University of California, Berkeley, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Stanford University, Sedona Yoga Festival and 1440 Multiversity. She also serves as an advisor to the Indian Government in matters pertaining to global integration and cultivation of Ayurveda and Yoga.

Acharya Shunya offers a wide array of videos, online courses and classes, and eBooks that have changed the lives of thousands of students worldwide. School graduates have taken her teachings and developed health promoting training programs at UNICEF,  Stanford and correctional facilities, across California. Shunya strives to embody the values and wisdom as represented by the Indian Goddess Durga. Durga symbolizes courage, balance, maternity, and power. She role models these qualities by integrating all aspects of her being and is unafraid to share her own challenges and how she applies Vedic wisdom to face them, from a centered space and compassionate space.

Acharya Shunya lives with her husband, son, and their rescue dogs, in the San Francisco Bay area. She loves to enjoy a nourishing meal, handcrafted with love by  her Ayurvedic chef and husband, Sanjai. She enjoys listening to poetry and Non-Dual rap music, created by her son, Dhruva. Often you can find Shunya writing, planting, reflecting and connecting amidst nature's beauty in her flourishing garden.
