Since the Beginning of Time
I awoke to a feast for the senses,
Father Sun pulled back the curtain of night,
generously spilling light
across the land,
a canvas painted in
bees kissing flowers,
the wind sweeping the crowns in trees,
ragged cracks in the asphalt.
Mother Earth, since the beginning of time,
cradling the full spectrum of life,
Ishvara spinning the kaleidoscope
displays life, entranced,
minds running like a river
operating in ordinary clothes.
Assumptions and notions are never examined,
Time merely wasted in eating, drinking and making merry,
While karma, the joker in the pack,
invites innovation,
I stand 10 feet tall, trip and fall,
Innumerable mistakes,
pick myself up, thankful
to be shown the
forgotten pathways to my heart.
Returning to the path
with no set conditions,
my mind relaxes.
There is no time,
nothing to believe in.
Inhale, I am Brahman, exhale I am atma,
In rhythm with my heartbeat.
The door opens
I seek and am not the seeker,
nor the seeking,
I watch in silence and stillness,
carefully, with patience,
a tiny center of eternity,
an act of faith
in service to the divine.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful expression Deborah.
