Hi Dear Sadasyas,

I wanted to take a few moments to introduce myself. I recently joined the Vedic Study Circle. My name is Shweta Karnik. I was born in India and grew up there till I was 16 years old. Then my father lost everything - our home, his business and in a desperate bid to restart life, he ended up in the United States. I moved to the US when I was 16 and have been here for over 25 years. I have my childhood foot in India and became an adult and led my adult life in the US. For many years and decades I tried to be an American and outwardly succeeded in creating an image of an "American" to be able to fit in.

11 years ago I lost my beloved Dad and went into a sadness I never experienced before. At that time yoga saved me but I still did not understand or accept his death. I came across the Gita then but did not embrace it. I went through a divorce, a re-marriage, birth of a child, death of beloved pets and it changed the color of my fish bowl so much, I lost my true nature and bliss.

It is only recently that I embraced my cultural roots and have empowered myself to be my whole true authentic self. I found Acharya Shunya through a Ram Dass course on the Bhagvad Gita and then started watching her Gita youtube sessions. To say it has changed my world view and my idea of my Self is an understatement.

I am a mom of a 3 year old son, a wife, a daughter and various other roles - all which seemed stifling at times. The wisdom of the Gita from Acharya Shunya is setting me free from my own prison.

After living in sunny San Diego for 20 years, I recently

moved to a small town in WA on the border of Vancouver Canada and it has been a very transformative journey. I have never felt so alone and yet so connected to what I want to do in this lifetime. And that is to become more conscious.

I am grateful to have found this community and am so joyful that our paths have crossed here.
