Workings of the Divine
I have been a part of this community since May of 2025. My first experieince with YOGA was 20 year agos with a teacher(s) from the Himalayan Institute. I learned quickly that Yoga goes deeper than asanas. I was hungry for more - so I studied, read about yoga, learned a bit of sanskrit and headed into the yoga sutras.
At the same time, I was a Christian pastor of a mainline church. My yoga study and interests were kept behind closed doors. One time, I asked my yoga teacher to share at a women's retreat on breath work and relaxation. Everyone loved his presentation and I received a letter from a local pastor who reminded my that I am Christian and not Hindu. This didn't stop me as I continued to seek and search, listen and study.... until I left church ministry, and now serve as a hospice chaplain.
As a chaplain, I work with families and patients at times of transition, change and loss. No matter the religion or lack of religion, most Westerners are unprepared or even aware of a life lived in/with the Divine. Christians call this life as a mystic. I have been guided to a mystical path. I see God in all people that I serve and situations. (at least on my good days)
Fear, stress, anger, confusion, despair and frustrations run rampant with so many of the people I meet. I do what I can - by shinning the light within - without. I have brought the love and teachings of Jesus to many people not only through words but also actions. Karma and Bahkti yoga are providing the bedrock form my inner growth. i still have much to learn.
I am so thankful for the gentle nudges that helped me say yes to Karma Yoga and listen carefully to the amazing teacher of Vedic Wisdom, Shunyaji. So thankful for the team of Sadhyis and all who bring these blessed opportunities. Jai Ma! Guru Dev. Peace, Peace, Peace
