When I met Acharya Shunya at Omega a year ago, I told her I wanted to see the world through Goddess eyes. I had a hint of what I meant, but not a full sense. This past year of listening about Ishwara and our relationships, it is getting clearer. I was especially taken with the idea that I am in Ishwara at the same time Ishwara is in me. I tend to travel alone a great deal because among my friends and family, my interests don’t often match up. One challenge of that was eating alone which felt awkward in public spaces. But lately I have decided I’m not alone. I am dining with Ishwara. Today I had lunch at a place with an outdoor patio. In the past, loud voices, crying children, bees, passing strangers would all cause tension. Today I observed without judgment and saw the people as part of the larger story. Each also Ishwara. Each also playing a part in the unfolding story of the universe. I felt my brain calm and it was like watching it all through my heart-mind. I was able to notice the flowers more and the birds. My food tasted better, because I didn’t feel rushed to get away from anything or even go toward something. And after awhile a heard inside myself a voice that said “ And even in this chaos and beauty, it is just an illusion.” And it was such a peaceful thought. I am a school teacher about to start a new year. I am going to ask Ishwara to help me see each day with Goddess eyes and to ask her in her form of Saraswati to always speak that which will connect to my students most.
