About Vedic Instructor Soumya
Soumya Kristin Renee has been a dedicated student of Acharya Shunya since 2012. Immersed in the profound teachings of the Vedas, she has studied under Acharya Shunya's guidance in the traditional "gurukulam" manner, embracing the rich spiritual heritage of Vedanta, Yoga, and Ayurveda. Soumya has a special affinity for source wisdom from ancient texts such as the Yoga Sutras, Sadhana Panchakam, Charaka Samhita, Tattvabodha, and the Bhagavad Gita, finding deep inspiration and transformative power in these sacred scriptures.

Soumya's journey with Vedic wisdom has been life-changing, providing her with a solid foundation during pivotal moments, including her pregnancies, birthing experiences, and the early developmental years of her children. She attributes her personal growth and spiritual awakening to the teachings she has received, which continue to nourish her soul and deepen her understanding of the Self. As a homeschooling mother of four, Soumya integrates these teachings into her daily life, guiding her family with the principles of Vedic knowledge.

In addition to her deep engagement with Vedic studies, Soumya has also pursued specialized training, earning the title of Ayurveda Health Educator from Vedika Global School of Ayurveda in 2013. She has a special interest in Vedic psychology, Ayurvedic nutrition, Ayurvedic prenatal and postpartum care, and Vedic healing group circles. Her work reflects a harmonious blend of these ancient sciences, aiming to bring balance and holistic well-being to those she serves.

Throughout her journey, Soumya has offered heartfelt seva (selfless service) at Vedika Global, including serving as the Satsangha and Seva coordinator. She has shared the light of her teacher by teaching Ayurveda at Vedika's community sanghas, leading Vedanta discussions in Acharya Shunya's Awakening Mandala Circles, and offering lineage-based teachings at workshops and community events, such as those organized by the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center in San Francisco and within various communities in the SF Bay Area

A Letter From Soumya
My name is Soumya. I found Acharya Shunya and her Vedic teachings in 2012, when I was a new mother overwhelmed by the responsibilities of life. I had a deep interest in Ayurveda and wanted to find the right teacher to take my studies further. Acharya Shunya's teachings immediately soothed my overwhelmed mind, filling it with hope and inspiration. I felt renewed by the peace of Acharya Shunya's Vedic light, the authenticity of her words, and the collective consciousness that was so organically present and alive in her teachings.

I found a spiritual home within myself and within Acharya Shunya's warm community. From this place, I built a steadfast foundation and dedicated myself to my studentship and the Vedic sciences of Ayurveda, Yoga, Vedanta, and several source texts. My physical health improved, my mind was put at ease, and my spirit soared from a place of devotion and reverence.

As her student, I went on to have three more children. Despite the demands and growing responsibilities as a wife and householder, I remained committed to my studentship, consistently reflecting on Vedic knowledge and incorporating it into my daily life. As a householder in the grastha ashrama, weaving the wisdom, art, and science of the Vedas brought joy into my life. The kitchen in my family became abundant with organic Ayurvedic herbs, recipes, and seasonal nutrition. My mind stayed anchored in my own sovereignty and in the ultimate truth of the Vedas—that the oneness of us all is the most sacred gift. This truth has sustained me throughout my twelve years of studentship.
I stay consistently close to Acharya Shunya's teachings and lineage to live in truth of my dharma and life purpose, which is to be the light in order to share the light.

I have been leading circles as a satsanga coordinator at Vedika Global for several years and, more recently, online through Acharya Shunya's Awakened Self Foundation. Inspired by this journey, I am now bringing forth a new offering—Atma Dance—which cultivates a deep connection to the Atman, the inner Self. Through this sacred movement practice, I guide others to experience the Atmic connection from within, merging the physical with the spiritual, and bringing the wisdom of the Vedas alive in our bodies and hearts.
