Ayurvedic inspiration!

Jai Maa!

Those of us that attended the Ayurvedic detox in the Bahamas with Chef Sanjaiji have been keeping each other inspired by occasionally sharing photos of our meals and we thought it would be nice to share them here, with our dear kula, too!   Here is a meal of yellow mung kitchari, carrots and asparagus, a small arugula, carrot, cucumber mint salad with a lemon, honey and olive oil dressing and some purple cabbage with dandelion greens.

I used to add veggies to kitchari but the love and care that Chef Sanjaiji puts into preparing each vegetable inspired me to serve the kitchari on it’s own with veggies made and served separately. This really showcases and honours each vegetable, especially when we’ve sourced them locally and seasonally.

I only began learning and implementing Ayurveda a couple of years ago when Acharyaji told us that if we are serious about moksha and wanting to deepen in our study and sadhana we really should be following an Ayurvedic lifestyle. Beginning to learn and put into practice some basic lifestyle and dietary practices has helped to bring more purity and balance to my life which in turn has allowed me to deepen to subtler levels of awareness and understanding.   My ever deepening experience of the peace and quiet joy of Self has unquestionably been supported by a more Ayurvedic lifestyle and diet. I’m so grateful that I heard and heeded our Acharyaji’s advice.

As many have already posted, to experience these teachings in person is invaluable.  Chef Sanjaiji is pure joy. The depth of his knowledge and the generosity with which he shares it is an inspiration in and of itself but then to get to enjoy the beautiful meals, and experience the effects - the love, the lightness, the clarity, the openness, the inspiration and joy is an incredible gift.   I highly encourage anyone who may be interested, whether you are new to Ayurveda, or a veteran (Jayanti Marinella is an Ayurvedic practitioner who has attended for 3 years in a row now!) to consider attending the Five-Day Ayurvedic Retreat this fall at the Sivananda Ashram in the Bahamas.

We are truly blessed, not only to have such a variety and depth of teachings supporting us in this journey and such sincere, devoted and authentic teachers, but also to have the opportunity to study and learn from them in person.  I hope everyone gets the opportunity to study and experience authentic and heartfelt Ayurveda with Chef Sanjaiji and our dear teacher.

Jai Maa Jai Gurudev!

PS Please feel free to share pictures of your own Ayurvedic dishes!
