What Is Upasana Yoga?
A Sacred Path of Inner Nearness
Many seekers know the words Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga, or Jnana Yoga. Upasana Yoga is less widely known in the West, yet it is one of the most beautiful and necessary pathways of Vedic spiritual life.
Upasana means “sitting near” or “drawing close.” In practice, it is the art of drawing close to Ishwara, the Divine Reality, through mantra, meditation, sacred sound, contemplation, and refined attention.
This is not meditation for relaxation alone. It is a path of sacred relationship, inner steadiness, and subtle transformation. The seeker learns to gather the mind, soften the heart, invoke the Divine, and become inwardly available to the truth of the Self.
