A Close Encounter of the E.G.O. Kind!
I was on a flight last week and placed my small bag in the overhead bin. During the flight, I took it down to do some reading. As we prepared to land, the usual safety announcements were made. Ignoring them, I decided to put my small bag behind my legs to avoid placing it in the overhead bin. My action was noticed, and I was asked to put my bag into the overhead bin, which I did without resistance!
It is uncomfortable to see the sense of “Entitlement” and “Opposition” to safety measures, which I exhibited. I did not like what I observed. Of course, more humbling, this is not the first time I have observed this in my behavior. I know, however, I will never repeat it. Victory!

Victory! To me, it feels like finding a little treasure each time one of those micro-moments of E.G.O. gets revealed because then it can be examined like you said. I sometimes laugh out loud when I'm by myself and notice one.
